Little Levi: 11 Months Old

Hello! Little Levi here! With the holidays and my Mommy traveling, this blog post is a little late.. and you guessed it, we are covering two months in one post: month 10 and 11.

The main events that happened during this time was my first Thanksgiving and Christmas, what fun! Thanksgiving Day was spent at our home, twice! In the morning my Daddy's Dad's side of the family came over for a big breakfast. There were 14 of us total! We cooked eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits and other things. We all sat around two tables and had a great time, I of course was the star of the show. Later that afternoon, my grandparents on Mommy's side and Uncle Garrett came over. Mommy and YaYa started cooking while I hung out with the guys. We had dinner around 6 then played a little bit before I headed to bed. The adults stayed up and watched Christmas Vacation. The following day, we went over to my Grammy's house (Daddy's mom) and spent time with her and Uncle Noah. We didn't have dinner until pretty late and didn't get to stay long, but it was nice being with family. Unfortunately, my Mommy totally goofed and got no pictures of our families at Thanksgiving. Here is the only picture taken of my on Thanksgiving... a turkey eating some turkey!

Leading up to Christmas, we participated in a few fun festivities. We went to the Holiday Express at Pullen Park one Sunday with Grammy, YaYa and Grandpa. It was pretty cold and the line for the train was hours long, so we didn't get to go on that. But we did go on the carousel! I also played on the playground and went down the slide (head first of course) like a boss. Here are some pictures...

The next fun thing we did was go to the children's Christmas party at Daddy's work (Quintiles). My Grammy works there, too, and helped put together the whole thing! I got to meet Santa for the first time, insist Mickey Mouse hold me (no, really, I reached right out to him and wanted to be held) and even checked a few emails.

Then finally, it was CHRISTMAS TIME! Since we have a lot of family, we split it up. A few days before Christmas my Grammy came over (Uncle Noah couldn't come because he was working) and we had dinner with her then opened some presents and just had fun together. Here are some pictures from that night. (You'll notice Grammy isn't in any shots with me b/c she thought she didn't look good.. we all know Grammy is always beautiful!)

On Christmas eve, we went to church service and then Grandpa, YaYa, and Uncle Garrett came over for dinner. We cooked a homemade meal that was very yummy and ate around the new table Grandpa made by hand. After that we opened presents and I went to bed... had to gear up for Christmas morning!

Then it was the day my parents have long awaited for.. my very first Christmas morning. I didn't seem to care too much, they had to wake me up at 9 (the longest I've ever slept). And I was a little grouchy most of the morning, but I still enjoyed opening my gifts.

Here is a video of me opening my stocking!

After I had a nap we packed everything up and headed to Lynchburg, VA where Daddy's uncle, his wife and son live. We met my Granddaddy (Daddy's dad), great grandmother and Uncle Noah there. We stayed two nights. It was so much fun! I got spoiled like crazy. My great Aunt who lives in Hawaii couldn't be there so she sent a bunch of presents over for all of us to open. She got me a big puppy plush chair that I love to climb on (video below). I was getting all of the attention and loving every minute of it. After heading back home after two days, that wrapped up our Christmas festivities. On New Years Eve, Mommy and Daddy went to a party and I stayed overnight at my Grammy's so they could sleep in. All in all, it was a great first holiday season for me!

I also saw snow for the first time! It was SUPER cold outside, and Mommy had me bundled up like a burrito, but still my face was exposed and the wind was blowing. She put down a plastic tupperware top in the snow and I sat on it and just looked around and really enjoyed the beauty of it all. Here are some pictures...

Ok enough with the happenings, let's talk about my development!

In my 10th month, I went through a season of not wanting to sleep through the night, which is odd for me because I am usually so great at it. Well I have news for you, babies aren't perfect and we aren't predictable. There was really no rhyme or reason.. I tried a bottle, that didn't really help. I would cry and cry, then my parents would come in and pick me up and rock me and I was happy as a clam, tip you put me down and I realized it. If I fell asleep, it wasn't long before I woke up crying again. Some nights they would come into my room 10 times. Finally they'd had enough, and decided not to come in and see me the first time I cried... after about 15 minutes, I fell asleep. About an hour or so later I cried again... and they didn't come see me,  so I went back to bed. After this night, it pretty much broke the habit. I still have some nights that are harder than others, but for the most part I'm back to sleeping completely through the night (besides losing my passy one or two times). Unless I'm sick of course, then it's a whole other story.

I  also had my first ear infection, diagnosed on Jan. 2nd. It caused my eye to also get infected. And so I got prescribed my first antibiotic. During this same appointment, we've come to the conclusion that I might have allergies. Due to the fact I have had cold symptoms for months, we think that's the cause. Mommy and Daddy are setting up an allergy test soon to get to the bottom of it. For now, I take allergy medicine as needed. We're hoping my allergy isn't due to cats, or YaYa and Grandpa are in for a rude awakening (being they have cats).

Because I was at the doctor for the ear infection, I got weighed. I was 19lb 10oz a week past turning 10 months.

I am on the verge of walking! In my 10th month, I was cursing along furniture and walls with ease. In the middle of January, I began to take one or two steps toward someone if I knew I could fall into them. Then at the end of January (when Mommy was in Florida!) I got brave and started taking anywhere from 3 to 8 steps on my own, wobbling along the way. I think I might be a walking pro before I turn one!

I now have 4 teeth (two on bottom and top).  I had the bottom two in my last post, the top two are new. The first one emerged two weeks before the other one.

I eat all sorts of things, but at the same time have become quite picky. The things I once used to eat, aren't good enough for me anymore. And vegetables? Don't even try it. I think I may have overheard Mommy say she pureed some veggies with some fruits so I wouldn't notice, but I think she was bluffing. I also have a texture problem (for those of you who know my Mom, you know I inherited this from her). I don't like most foods like pasta or soup unless they've been run in the food processor. Not to the point of being pureed, but finely chopped. But I will eat finger foods such as cheese, bread, turkey and fruit. Some days I might like something and then not like it the next. I have become quite difficult in this department. Hopefully it's just a phase!

I am quite the defiant little booger. If you tell me no, I might hit you or do what you asked me not to do, again. For example: If I threw one of my bath toys overboard and Mommy says "no" and puts it back in, I will look at her for a moment, pick up the toy and throw it over again, and may also hit her hand. It's hard for Mommy and Daddy to discipline (and by that, the most discipline I get is being told "no" firmly) because I make it kind of cute. I plan on straightening out this attitude before long, because I heard it won't be tolerated once I'm in my toddler stage.

I have started to "talk" more and more. My first word was my own version of "ball", but I say it "bahp".. really emphasizing the "p". I don't always say it when I'm talking about a ball, I just like to say it all the time "bahP", "bahP", "bahhhhhP". I also utter "dada" and "mama", but I'm not so sure I am actually referring to my Mom and Dad, but rather just making the sound. I also say "uh..oh",  I used to just say the "uh" part, but now I add the "oh". With this phrase I do know what it means, because when something drops, I will say it. Now I just say all sorts of syllables and chat the day away.

Tricks: I raise my arms really high when someone says "How big is Levi?".. sometimes I do it out of the blue, even if you don't ask. I can clap my hands if you say "clap" or if you're praising me for something I did. If you ask me to find my toes, I will grab them. I can make that mumble noise with my mouth when I rub my ringer up and down on my lips and make a sound with my mouth; if you do it, I will copy you. I also can do some other things you do, I like to copy!

Here is a video of me doing some of these funny things... saying "bahp", raising me arms and copying Mommy when she grunts.

Schedule
*as of turning 11 months*
7:30/8am: wake up then have morning (6oz bottle)
8/8:30am: have breakfast (usually consists of oatmeal and a banana these days)
9:30/10:30: go down for morning nap (have to sleep for at least one hour)
11:30/12:30: have lunch
2:30/3:30: have afternoon bottle (6oz) and go down for afternoon nap
5/5:30: have dinner
6/6:30: bath
7:15/8: bed time
*If a time says 8/8:30 that means anywhere in between that timeframe is when that activity happens, it doesn't mean from 8 to 8:30.. if that makes sense.

There are days I have one nap instead of two, it just depends on the day. Mommy is trying to hang on to two naps for now because I am better rested if I have both. Unless I take a big middle of the day nap, about 3 hours, then it's okay. I may make the transition to one nap sooner than later, some days I show I can do it, and others not so much. We'll see!

WHEW! Talk about a long post... there was a lot to fill you in on! It's hard to believe the next time there is an update it will be after my first birthday! I can't believe it's almost been a year. How did that happen?

Thanks for reading and catching up on my life :)

Talk to you when I'm one!!!

-Levi
