Week 34

Hello all. How goes it? We've been pretty busy lately. I nannied all last week and we had plans all but 1 night of the entire week. NUTS I TELL YOU. This week is a little busy, too, (I've got 3 coffee dates!) but nothing like last week. I think in Feb we will vow to make no plans so we can be cool, calm and collected leading up to birth. Easier said than done, right?

This week we have been working in the nursery a little bit (we still have a bit to do, though) and I of course will post pictures. I keep changing my mind on what I want to do above the crib, but I think I've come to a conclusion... now I just have to make it. A trip to Michaels is in my near future.

We also had my 34 week appointment this week. Jake came with me this time. He comes when he can. The midwife felt around and baby is still head down. His back was on the left of my tummy and feet poking out to the right (me looking down). That's generally his favored position. We also heard his heartbeat, which sounded like a galloping pony, it was so funny I couldn't help but laugh. What a little cutie pie in there! Crazy to think he'll be here in a few weeks.. I cannot seem to grasp what life will be like as a parent. I know we're in for a real shock. But we are excited!

Total weight gain: 26 pounds as of my last appointment. That was in the late afternoon though after I had eaten a lot. So I'm probably still in the 23 range. It's crazy to step on a scale and see you've gained 26 pounds.. but then you come back to reality and realize you're creating a human and it's all worth it!
Symptoms: Still this lovely heartburn.. I tried a natural way that is said to help, drinking a swig of Apple Cider Vinegar. OMG I almost died. It was like fueling an inferno. And it didn't really help, so I will NOT be doing that again. I also had some pretty intense pressure down below (back and front). For women's eyes only (men you might get grossed out): it felt like when you're on your period and you feel like your uterus is just about to bottom out. I had to relieve myself a little bit by relaxing in the shower for a while, squatting, stretching and letting the water run over me. Jake also had to basically give me a butt massage, I'm sure he didn't mind ;)
Maternity clothes: nothing new
Stretch marks: no.. hoping I can make it through the long haul without any.
Sleep: a LITTLE better this past week.. but I'm going to attribute that to how busy I've been. My poor body knew it needed to recuperate at night.
Best moment this week: Again, Hypnobabies class! We learn SO much when we go and every time we are that much more confident about natural childbirth. We actually watched a video this week and it showed how peaceful the mom was during birthing waves (contractions) and yes, it even showed the baby coming out... up close and personal. Let's just say, I'm glad I'm on the other end haha. Birth is beautiful don't get me wrong, but also a little freaky looking. But seeing how easily the mom birthed was such an encouragement! No tearing or anything. Our bodies were meant for this!
Miss anything?: Although I enjoy being pregnant, I think I'm starting to get to the point where I miss not being pregnant haha.
Movement: every hour, every day!
Food cravings: no.. I guess in this department I am not your average pregnant lady! I may have had 3 "cravings" my entire pregnancy. (but now this makes me remember that chocolate Cook Out milkshake.. hmmm...)
Food aversions: nope
Belly button: flat and almost popping out
Wedding ring: I still can wear it, I'm not swelling anywhere.. thank Heavens!
Mood: pretty good this week! I didn't snap at anyone.. well except for the idiot lady at Buy Buy Baby who wouldn't let me use a coupon on cloth diapers. I was about to BOP her. You do not mess with preggy hormones.
Looking forward to: meeting this little guy! And seeing Jake with him, I know my heart will explode 1000 times.
Baby bump: I'm told I'm all belly, which is great news to my ears :)

Here's a typical baby at 34 weeks

PS this is totally random but Jake has the CUTEST nickname for me: Preggy Presh. OMG how adorable is he? He's been calling me that for a while, but thought I'd share so when I look back on this blog I won't forget his cuteness.

 Thanks for reading!
